Vote for DJ Graybe!

Vote for Grayson!  Only ONE day left to get in your votes for Grayson’s AWESOME Yo Gabba Gabba birthday party!  Make sure you vote so he can win and fill my house up with more YGG toys.  Click here.

UPDATE (5/1): So Grayson didn’t win, but we appreciate everyone voting. I know there was some concern from a few of you whether your vote actually counted or not. Grayson ended up with 40 votes, which put him in 4th place. Out of 25 candidates, that is pretty solid! Thanks!

Blog updates

As you may have noticed, we made a few changes to the blog.

Lisa found a new theme we are playing with and she has a list of things she wants added. We got rid of the other pages and now it is just a blog. Note the new, shorter URL.

We are going to clean up the sidebar, which has already started, and add an email sign up form, so you can get emailed every time we post something new. We’re trying to find new ways to keep the four or so of you happy!

Also, we’ll add more links to photo albums posted on Snapfish. I think its kind of a pain to have to login, but once everything is set up you can order pics. Let us know if you think it is a pain.

Finally, if you have any feedback on what you’d like to see more or less of, other than posting more often and pictures of Grayson — we already know that!

With this change, I am hoping to make it easier for Lisa to post and feel comfortable posting on a regular basis.

Stay tuned!

Animal sounds

We’re working on getting some video of it, but Grayson is getting really good with his animal sounds. He’s got the following down pretty solid:

  • tiger – roar (he will randomly do this, just for fun)
  • duck – quack, quack, quack
  • cow – moo, moo
  • dog – ruff, ruff
  • PeePaw – ho, ho, ho (not an animal, but still fun)

He also has Da-da, Mama, Nite-nite, Balloon and Book down. He just started connecting on high-fives, and still loves waving to people. Grayson is still not walking, but is being more and more adventurous with standing without leaning on anything.

Birthday Party

We had a wonderful first birthday party this past Saturday (pictures to come). Grayson had a blast and even had to take a little nap in the middle of his party to continue the opening of presents and socializing with friends and family.

The theme was Yo Gabba Gabba, which is a show on Noggin/Nickelodeon, that whenever it comes on TV Grayson gets all smiley and can’t keep his eyes off the screen (please don’t tell his pediatrician!). Lisa did an amazing job of planning the events and decorating the entire house (and outside!). She found lots of great crafty items online and came up with a few on her own that really made the party special for everyone that came. From the custom designed YGG character themed koozies for the adults, to the arts and crafts table for the kiddos, to the pin the eye on Muno (a one-eyed YGG character) for everyone — it was just great.

Everyone that came posed with the DJ Lance hat and glasses next to a full-size cardboard cut out of DJ Lance, which helped get everyone into the craziness that is YGG. Aunt Stacy was able to find someone to create a very cut Brobee (another character) cake for Grayson to dig into. Unfortunately, with all the people around he didn’t seem that interested in diving into the green, sugary goodness. We have the cake in the fridge and are working up to letting him get messy with it.

There are still slew of presents to go through that we’re waiting for his actual birthday (4/15) to open, but I know he was most happy about having so many people to share his special day with him!

Grayson’s First Trip to the Beach

First blood

I thought we were going to make it a full year, but no…last night Grayson was bouncing up and down, bobbing his head and smacked his little chin on the coffee table. A few minutes later he was spitting out little bits of blood, but his gum quickly healed up and we could barely see where it was coming from in his mouth. With 9 teeth and counting, it is not so easy to see around in there any more!

So close with no skinned knees, cuts or gouges.

I guess, as much as you want to protect your children (disclosure: I have had only one dream to my recollection of wrapping Grayson in bubble wrap), you have to do what you can and let them experience the boo-boos and ouchies. I know as he gets more mobile, we will have to expand our little collection of Band-Aids and Neosporin.

Our little boy is growing up.
