A happy 10 Months

I’m not sure when I got so terrible at updating the blog. I guess sporadically is better than never. I am working on a solution so we can upload pictures easier (right now it is a 4-step process). Lisa assures me that once this is done she will be a regular contributor.

Last weekend at Grammy and Gramps, Grayson decided he wanted to check out what was upstairs, so he started climbing (with Lisa in tow). He made it all the way to the top in just a couple of minutes, which I think is pretty darn good! Last night he crawled over to our staircase and within a few minutes he was upstairs tugging at my pant leg while I sat at the desk (Lisa was behind him the whole way). We realize that now we have to really watch him as he has not only gotten more mobile, he is much more curious!

I feel like he is very close to walking, since he is so good about propping himself up and has started some serious shifting around the coffee table and moving from our leg, the sofa or ottoman.

Another thing I have noticed is he is much more cuddly and relaxed laying or sitting with us. He’s crawled over a few times to us and just put his head down on our chests. Its cute, but we end up spoiling the moment going for the camera or yelling for each other to come see.

He’s also started to take little breaks and lay on the floor. A couple nights ago he put his head down on a stuffed dog and just played with some toys while laying there.

Last weekend I lowered the crib to its lowest setting, since we would find Grayson standing up with his arms resting on the top of the crib. He hasn’t started climbing, but we figured we would lower the setting to be safe (or give him more of challenge!).

Speaking of lowering the crib — I am fairly certain crib designers don’t have kids or at least never have to lower their cribs. I am all for the safety, but the placement of the slats and the screws are in the most impposible spots to get to. I was 5-minutes away from taking the whole thing apart after spending an hour fiddling with it.

It’s crazy to think that a year ago we were living in a cramped apartment, nervous about our house selling and even more nervous about what our son would be like and hoping for a healthy baby. And now we are so fortunate to have an incredible son who is healthy and adorable and we’re free of the house in Georgia and settled into our new home.

2008 was quite a year and the past 10 months have been amazing. Looking forward to see what lies ahead.
