San Francisco here we are!
Today Ryan and I landed in San Francisco around the same time and shared a cab ride into the city. I checked into our hotel while Ryan went off to work. Our hotel is great and the view is wonderful! After getting settled in I set out for the sites. I walked all around the city and there are so many cool shops and so many people. I stopped in a local knitting store, Artfibers - which had the most yummy yarns ever! I picked up some yarn for a few scarves. Then I headed out and stopped at the four story Williams-Sonoma, Levi’s, and some other local shops. There is really every store you can think of here too.
I grabbed lunch at Blondie’s Pizza and laughed at the dorks standing in line for the iphone unveiling. There was an art show at Union Square with beautiful photographs and paintings and lots of folks lounging around on the lawn. Right off Union Square there is a hugeTiffany’s, five story Macy’s, Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus, and even Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and Kate Spade. Do I dare dream?! The weather was just gorgeous for shopping. I met Ryan mid-shop and he took my sweater back to the hotel for me. Walking around, the breeze felt great! After spending about four hours shopping and walking I went back to the hotel where Ryan was still working and I caught a quick nap.
Then we freshened up and went out for dinner. A couple of blocks from our hotel is a quaint little alley way that has five or six Italian bistro/restaurants that have tables in the street and lights strung from the tops of buildings. The hostesses were pushy, but we found a great place – Cafe Tiramisu. The food and wine were great with a cozy, get-to-know-your-neighbor seating arrangement. After dinner we walked around a bit and the wind and the cold night air was beginning to set in so we headed back to our hotel (and I spotted a few more shops that I want to go to on the way!).
We went to the top floor (36) of our hotel to the restaurant/bar area. The view was just amazing!! We could see just about everything – the bay, buildings, and Alcatraz Island! We had a drink and took in the sites. By this time Ryan was fading fast and I was a bit sleepy. I think it was about 10pm – so our body was shouting at us that is was 1am in Atlanta!
I took lots of pictures already so hopefully I can get them on-line soon. I didn’t bring my USB cord, so hopefully we can finagle something. This morning I woke up at 6am, so I’m sure I’ll be tired later too! We are headed out to the Ferry Building Market this morning for more shopping, food, and vino! More to come!!!
